Universal Care realised over 3 decades ago that it was clear that a new approach was required due to the increasing numbers of older people in the country, in order to receive adequate care and support in the comfort of their own home.
We are owned by a Charity, and charges clients as little as possible, whilst paying staff well above Living Wage, and all profits go the various Local Charities.
We have been recruiting and training Community Carers from a range of backgrounds for over 3 decades now, and their training and job-shadowing coupled with their in-depth LOCAL knowledge enable them to provide a high-quality service to the clients.
Carers are based locally and work flexible hours; and although they are not registered nurses, all agents are DBS checked. A team of office staff including Care Managers & Care Coordinators per region, provide 24/7 support to our Carers as well as help to promote the service in the local community.
Key to the success of the Charity is the ability of the Carers to meaningfully engage with their clients, and to work with them to identify solutions that draw on their own strengths as well as local resources.
Although these services can sometimes be tricky, staff have found that their clients generally feel more comfortable getting support from them, rather than from the family who might live out of the area, or work in the City.

Support include, but is not limited to: meal preparation, medication, personal care, light housework,
outings, medical appointments, companionship, safeguarding, memory games, personal assistant, shopping, etc.

Pre-requisite: Must have a drivers' license, own transport and be interested in flexible working including alternative weekends, 16 - 45 hours a week. DBS update service or new DBS application will be required.
